Welcome to the latest issue of This Is Horticulture. As you know, I am truly passionate about plant cultivation at all levels, so this week I delve into the wonderful field of architecture and its transformative power embracing circular and sustainable design principles with Earth at its core.
Throughout my journey leading up to this Wednesday, and especially over the past week, I had the honor of conceiving the concept of Plant Based Architecture. Well, at least that's what I like to believe.
Surprisingly, there are tones of information about adding green into developments or planning inclusive designs in nature but not much -or simply nothing, on adding developments into green. That means, architectural constructions that are intentionally designed to evolve and be reclaimed by nature over time to literally reduce the impact to zero.
In this issue I look how buildings become harmonious extensions of the natural world, celebrating the interdependence between humanity and our environment. Join me in the search of the perfect communion between architecture and nature, where buildings thrive as living organisms, embracing the beauty and wisdom of our planet.
Enjoy the journey!

The transformative concept of Plant Based Architecture emerged while I was writing the short story 'La Morada,' which you will find in this newsletter. PBA places nature at the forefront of architectural design. It goes beyond incorporating plants as mere accessories and instead focuses on intentional designs that allow buildings to evolve and be reclaimed by nature over time, minimizing their impact. The mantra of Plant Based Architecture should guide every aspect of development, ensuring a harmonious coexistence with the environment.
In my approach, architectural constructions are thoughtfully planned to support the natural regeneration process and strive for zero impact. Integration of plants as eco-friendly decorative elements, such as living walls and green roofs, and the use of natural materials are valuable additions to the core concept. Promoting well-being, exploring vertical farming, encouraging native species, and fostering collaboration between different groups are all beneficial aspects that enhance the overall Plant Based Architecture philosophy.
By embracing the Plant Based Architecture philosophy and concept as a guiding principle, architects and designers can create sustainable and regenerative spaces that seamlessly blend with the natural world. This approach not only minimizes the ecological footprint but also fosters a deep connection between people and their surroundings. It opens up possibilities for innovative designs that prioritize the preservation and coevolution of architecture and nature.
Me, from PBA’s heart, advocate for intentional designs, emphasizing the evolution and reclamation of buildings by nature over time. It encourages a holistic perspective where various eco-friendly elements and collaborative efforts are welcome additions. By embracing this philosophy, we can create a built environment that exists in harmony with the planet, supporting a sustainable and regenerative future.

Architecture's Journey Towards Circular and Sustainable Design
In a world facing pressing environmental challenges, the area of architecture is undergoing a profound transformation. Architects, designers and all kind of thinkers are reimagining the role of buildings, not merely as structures that dominate the landscape, but as harmonious extensions of the natural world. The paradigm shift toward circular and sustainable design principles places nature at the core of architectural intentions, ensuring that our built environment seamlessly integrates with and supports the delicate balance of the ecosystem.
The importance of architecture embracing a circular and sustainable economy, with nature as its guiding principle, is of extreme importance. Not as element to be added to designs, but as the goal, core, and completion piece of the works; nature at its rightful place. As architects strive to create spaces that not only coexist but thrive in harmony with the environment, a new chapter unfolds—a chapter that celebrates the interdependence between humanity and the natural world.
Nature, with its magnificent power of regeneration, resilience, and sheer beauty, provides endless inspiration for architects seeking to imbue their creations with an organic grace. By embracing principles rooted in circularity and sustainability, architecture takes on a vital role in conserving our planet's resources, mitigating climate change, and fostering a profound connection between people and their surroundings.
The transformative potential of architectural design must to place nature first, seeking to forge a deep communion between the constructed and the natural. The significance of sustainable materials, regenerative practices, and the integration of green spaces within urban landscapes are vital. By adopting such practices, architects embark on a journey toward not just sustainable buildings, but regenerative spaces that coevolve with the ecosystems they inhabit.
In a perfect world, buildings are not independent from nature but incomplete without the annexation to it and becoming living organisms that celebrate the beauty and wisdom of the natural world. Through my exploration in the shape of a fictional short story, I hope to inspire a profound shift in our collective consciousness, nurturing a symbiotic relationship between humanity, architecture, and the environment, where the needs of both are intertwined and fulfilled.
Let me embark you on this transformative journey, where nature guides our intentions, and architecture becomes a vessel for sustainable, regenerative, and awe-inspiring spaces that harmonize with the world we call home.

Through the following captivating fictional story, we will witness how a visionary construction, completed only when nature conquered it, becomes a testament to the harmony that can be achieved when architecture and the environment intertwine. This tale serves as a poignant reminder of the transformative potential of architectural design that prioritizes the preservation and celebration of nature. So, let immerse ourselves in La Morada enchanting narrative, where the boundaries between human artistry and the splendor of the natural world blur, and the symphony of unity unfolds before our eyes.
📖
La Morada
In the secluded depths of a mystical forest, an ethereal construction stood tall, silently awaiting the touch of nature. Its graceful arches and delicate spires reached towards the heavens, while its walls, adorned with intricate carvings, seemed to whisper tales of forgotten worlds. This construction, known simply as "La Morada," was destined to be completed only when nature conquered and embraced it as its own.
One morning, as the first rays of sunlight filtered through the ancient trees, a gentle breeze danced through the clearing, carrying with it the murmurs of nature's voice. The construction stirred to life, feeling the presence of the forest enveloping it.
"Dear La Morada," whispered the wind, "you are but a vessel, patiently awaiting my embrace. Together, we shall create a symphony of harmony."
The construction responded in hushed tones, its voice echoing through the serene woods. "Nature, your touch ignites life within my very foundations. Together, let us bring forth a wondrous union of beauty and unity."
Days turned into weeks, and La Morada stood steadfast as nature began its enchanting conquest. Delicate tendrils of ivy snaked their way up the walls, weaving a tapestry of verdant greenery. Flowers blossomed in vibrant hues, their fragrance filling the air. A family of birds nested within the alcoves, their melodies blending with the rustling leaves.
The construction trembled with anticipation as nature continued its gentle invasion. "Nature," it whispered, "your presence weaves a spell around me. Together, we create a sanctuary where life flourishes, and the boundary between human artifice and natural magnificence fades."
Nature's response carried through the forest, a tender caress upon the ears of La Morada. "Dear Morada, you have opened your heart to me. I, in turn, gift you the splendors of my domain. We are but threads in the tapestry of existence, intertwined in a dance of perfect communion."
As the seasons turned, La Morada became a true testament to the unity of architecture and nature. The trees encircled its structure, forming a protective canopy overhead. Vines cascaded down its walls, cascading like a waterfall frozen in time. Bees hummed melodies of gratitude, their labor weaving a honeyed tapestry within its chambers.
One evening, as the moon cast its silvery glow upon La Morada, the construction and nature engaged in a whispered conversation. "Nature," said La Morada, "you have bestowed upon me a soul, an existence that transcends the limitations of mere stone and mortar. Together, we have created a haven of ethereal beauty."
Nature's voice swirled around La Morada, a symphony of life in its every tone. "Morada, you are my muse, an ode to the union of human ingenuity and my eternal splendor. Our communion shall stand as a testament to the wondrous harmony that can exist between our realms."
And so, in the heart of the mystical forest, La Morada stood complete, an embodiment of the perfect communion between architecture and nature. It became a sanctuary where human dreams and the power of the natural world intertwined, forever entwined in a timeless dance of unity and enchantment.
